Today Future in Football Scholars played Palmers college at home.

Previously our scholars were beaten 8-3 to the team that currently were second in the league so we were in for a tough game.

The game started brightly for our Student Athletes who moved the ball well and kept possession due to their very organised shape.

FiF scholars pressed very well and seemed really up for the battle forcing a lot of mistakes from the Palmers players early on. It wasn't long before Jack Campbell (playing his first game since coming over from Australia) intercepted a pass to run through on goal and finish very well putting Future in Football 1-0 up.

FIF created more chances within the first 3-4 mins but it was a minute later when a great corner came in from the impressive Joe Critchell and was finished very well by Jack Frost to make it 2-0.

Palmers looked in shock and our Scholars took full advantage of this by controlling possession throughout the first half, the only few times they got in behind our defence they were stopped very well by our goalkeeper Ben Picton, just before half time Palmers forward broke free with Jack Frost and Matt Binstead recovering back, Jack made a tackle and was just late resulting in him getting a yellow card.

Half time 2-0 to Future in Football.

The whole team had played extremely well and with Jack Frost coming off injured he was replaced by Jengiz Mehmet who slotted straight in at centre back and kept the game solid.

Second half began and Palmers looked to get back into the game but were shut out by our defence very well, the midfield 3 worked tirelessly to protect the back 4 and the forward 3 didn't stop running and pressing throughout the game it was a brilliant performance defensively.

Palmers got clear through on about 60 mins and slotted the ball away to make the game tight for the last third of the game, however every change FIF made only made it fresher on the pitch and every single player that came on done their job exactly like the starting team, this was a fantastic squad performance and with the game about to finish Jack Campbell broke free only to miss by inches to finish off the game.

Future in Football held on to their lead and the win and showed what good work rate and team work can do against any opponent. The win lifts the team to 3rd in the league with two games left to play.
